Wanderers overcame Premier League outfit West Ham United 3-2 at Molineux Stadium on Tuesday to go to the League Cup third round. Norwegian attacker Jorgen Strand Larsen scored twice.

The Wolves started the game well and scored their first goal of the season in the 43rd minute, thanks to Rodrigo Gomes. Tomas Soucek headed a 50th-minute equaliser for West Ham.

The Norwegian came on in the 73rd minute and scored in the 82nd and 84th to turn around the contest at Molineux after Lucas Paqueta had headed the visitors ahead in the 63rd.

Newcastle United is making repeated bids for Larson, who helped Wolves win, but Wolves would not move him.

The club rejected a £50m Newcastle offer for Larsen, who is crucial to their Premier League survival, but the Magpies returned with a £55m offer. International media reports say it’s because the transfer window closes on Monday, leaving little time to locate a better successor.

Graham Potter’s West Ham has been struggling in the Premier League, losing 5-1 to Chelsea and 3-0 to promoted Sunderland. The match between the bottom two teams has not provided him any rest.
