Alejandro Garnacho Aston Villa move has been confirmed as the Premier League club completed the signing of the former Manchester United winger from Chelsea on an initial season-long loan deal with a conditional obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer.
Garnacho was brought in by Chelsea from Manchester United for an estimated £40 million last season but failed to make an impact on the bench. He played 43 games for all team competitions and netted eight goals, struggled to find a regular place in the team. Garnacho first made his name for Manchester United following his transfer from Atletico Madrid’s academy in 2020 before moving to the Blues.
He went on to make 144 senior appearances for the club and create several memorable moments for the club such as his goal in the dismissal of Manchester City in the 2024 FA cup final. The Argentine winger was also named Manchester United’s Young Player of the Year for 2022 and was a vital member of the team’s FA Youth Cup winning side. But his relationship with former United manager Ruben Amorim is said to have soured since he was sent off when the final of the Europa League was held in 2025 against Tottenham Hotspur.
Looking at Aston Villa from a football strategy point of view, the move was a wise one to add attacking quality and potential resale value. Villa are continuing to make improvements to their squad and Emery now has another attacking option with Garnacho who is quick, direct and has plenty of experience at the top level.
