Can Isak Replace Ekitike Injury Blow?

Alexander Isak injury boost is becoming one of the major points of discussion in Liverpool as the club gears towards an important Premier League match against Everton. Manager Arne Slot feels that the reappearance of the Swedish striker would help cushion the blow of losing Hugo Ekitike at least until the end of the season.

This was a blow following the rupture in an Achilles tendon of Hugo Ekitike when Liverpool lost the second leg of the quarter final in the champions league at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. The 23-year-old striker is now set to miss the rest of the season, including the next World Cup, creating a huge void in the Liverpool attack.

Isaac is a newcomer to Liverpool, having been brought in by Newcastle United at a British record price, and has just come back after an injury. But Slot has made it clear that he is not at all prepared to play a full 90 minutes. Nevertheless, his presence is regarded as a shot of adrenaline, particularly within a completely derby setting.

The timing of things has created a strong contrast in the squad. The fact that one striker is coming back to fitness and another is taking a lengthy time to recover shows the uncertain aspect of football, which Slot himself admitted. He emphasized that the move by the club to acquire two of the best forwards at this time would seem to be worth the case considering the risk of injuries over the course of an extended season.

Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa will also be depth options in the attack of Liverpool. The two players will have a significant role to play as Liverpool keeps on the road to champions league qualification where they are ranked position five in the table.
