International media claimed on Friday that Eddie Howe is still unsure about Alexander Isak’s move as the transfer window closes on September 1, 2025.
Manager Howe stated Friday that the Magpies are close to signing German forward Nick Woltemade. Isak, who wants to join Liverpool before the transfer deadline, has not played in any of Newcastle’s matches this season and is training alone.
Liverpool offered £110m plus add-ons for the Sweden international earlier this month, but Newcastle rebuffed because they have yet to identify a suitable alternative.
Howe has called the impasse a ‘lose-lose’ situation, but he is now unsure of Isak’s destiny before Saturday’s trip to Leeds United.
“Giving you future clarity is challenging. I’ve said I don’t know the future since I’m not involved “Howe told reporters.
I have no news and am focussing on signing players.
Still looking in the market. The squad can be improved, but I don’t know how. Small steps, let’s finish the deal and see where we are.”
Woltemade, who was recently capped by Germany and scored 17 goals for VfB Stuttgart last season, is progressing, according to Howe. The centre-forward agreement will allow Isak to join Liverpool.
Positive indicators. Things are progressing well. No confirmation yet, but fingers crossed “Howe stated.
I don’t think he can play Leeds. Most crucial is bringing a centre forward, which we’ve been working towards all summer. Hopefully we’re getting closer.”
