On Wednesday, foreign media reported that Crystal Palace and Villarreal agreed to a £26m move for Spanish winger Yeremy Pino. Media sources say a 22-year-old will visit Selhurst Park for a physical in a few days. Villarreal accepted Palace’s offer despite Pino’s £69 million release clause because his contract is less than two years old.
The Eagles have signed Pino after Eberechi Eze’s £60 million move to Arsenal last week. The previous season, 27-year-old Eze was Palace’s fortunate charm, scoring 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances to win their first major prize, the FA Cup.
After Palace and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 this weekend, manager Oliver Glasner said he wanted to add fresh players before the deadline. It only added two players this summer. Walter Benitez arrived from PSV Eindhoven for free, and Borna Sosa joined from Ajax for £3 million.
Palace has also launched a £15 million bid for Manchester City’s 30-year-old Swiss defender Manuel Akanji. After Las Palmas’ development program, winger Pino joined Villareal in 2017.
He scored four goals in 34 league matches to help Villarreal finish fifth and qualify for the Champions League after making his league debut in 2020. Pino has scored three goals in 15 Spain games since his 2021 debut.
