Liverpool Defeat Yokohama FM in Friendly

Florian Wirtz scored his first goal for Liverpool in a preseason friendly match on Wednesday at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama. Liverpool won 3-1 over J1 League side Yokohama F. Marinos.

After Asahi Uenaka gave Yokohama the lead early in the second half, Wirtz, Trey Nyoni, and Rio Ngumoha clinched the result for Liverpool.

Go ahead Hugo Ekitike made his first appearance for the Reds after moving from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69 million ($92.1 million) and amazed Arne Slot with his amazing talents. In the 25th minute, he almost put his team ahead with a daring back-heel. Ekitike was brought off at halftime as part of a scheduled substitute.

Slot then changed a few things in the middle of the second half. As part of the Reds’ plan to get in shape for the 2025/26 season, Mac Allister also got a chance.

Alisson Becker did not play in the game for personal reasons. The Japanese club who hosted the game seized the lead when Uenaka scored in the 55th minute, completing off a great play.

Liverpool, on the other hand, came back due to Wirtz, who scored from close range after Mohamed Salah set him up with some great work on the right side. After scoring off a great cross from Jeremie Frimpong, midfielder Nyoni put the Reds ahead.

Teenager Ngumoha, 16, capped off a great second half with an amazing individual goal that made the score 3-1.
