Liverpool vs Wolves FA Cup: Robertson Heroics?

The match between Liverpool and Wolves in the FA Cup came to a resounding win of 3-1 by Liverpool in Molineux. Andy Robertson gave his best performance to set the Reds in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and took pressure off the head coach Arne Slot.

Liverpool went to the game in need of a good reaction. The team was questioned on its form owing to its recent defeat in the Premier League in the same place. This FA cup game had an added significance thus to Slot and his team.

The initial half was close and competitive. Wolves were good defenders and barred Liverpool clear opportunities. Both sides fought it out in the middle while the match was still at a draw at half time.

The turning point was at the beginning of the second half. Andy Robertson rose to the occasion with an uncharacteristic flash of genius. Space was available to the Scotland captain who scored his first goal in September. The momentum was created in Liverpool by the strike.

Robertson had six minutes later to make his influence even greater. He made a perfect cross into the box. Mohamed Salah responded swiftly and completed the clinical goal to secure a second goal to Liverpool. It was the second goal that Salah scored at Molineux in four days since the first one at Molineux.

Liverpool now seemed to think himself a confident and composed person. Their high productivity shots altered the pace of the match and Wolves were compelled to pursue the game.

This was later finished by a calm finish by Curtis Jones at the fringe of the penalty area. His curling shot was low and Wolves could not have a second chance.

On the infrequent start, a teenager winger Rio Ngumoha also made an impression. The young assailant caused havoc to the defence of Wolves and won the man-of-the-month award.
