Ronaldo Faces Ban After Meltdown

The emotional response shown by Cristiano Ronaldo after Al-Nassr lost to Al Hilal has again put the football star under the disciplinary review with the possible repercussions that may be felt much further than the local competition and onto his world cup aspirations.

The event took place on the Monday night Saudi Pro League game that Al-Nassr lost to their competitors in the title 3-1. Having been evidently furious over a ruling that had favored his opponents, Ronaldo was seen to be pointing out at the referee and gesturing that he was robbed. The movement has been registered by the referees and sent to be revised.

The Saudi football officials are currently evaluating the fact that Ronaldo breached the Disciplinary and Ethics Code of the league and that such behavior falls under the offense of acting in an obscene manner to officials. The decision might come in the following days following the inspection of the video.

Violations of the code attract penalty of a minimum of two match suspension and SAR 20,000 fine to a maximum of four match suspension and SAR 40,000 penalty. In case the more severe decision is imposed, Ronaldo would be unable to play the remaining league games of Al-Nassr in January.

The fact that the potential suspension will be effected is an issue to Al-Nassr, who are already finding it hard to keep up with the title race. The club has had an ideal beginning of the season, but they are seven points behind Al-Hilal, and each remaining game counts.

The Saudi Arabia has been keen on disciplining Ronaldo. He received a two-match suspension after a Super Cup loss to Al-Hilal last year with the referees blaming him on inappropriate conduct. Later he was banned a match due to some indecent gesture against Al-Shabab fans during rival chanting.

Ronaldo is on the verge of what may be his last grand appearance at the world cup in 2026, and recurrent incidences threaten to shadow his acts. As much as his role in the pitch cannot be underestimated, the discipline problems that have been a constant problem with him can progressively characterize this late phase of his career.
