Son Heung-min Announces Tottenham Exit After Decade

Premier League captain Son Heung-min stated on Saturday that he will quit Tottenham Hotspur this summer after a phenomenal 10 years.

Spurs signed the South Korean attacker from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 till 2026. He became one of Spurs’ most prominent players, captaining them to their first major trophy in 17 years. Son has not announced his future transfer, but foreign media sources suggest he will join Los Angeles FC.

At a press conference before Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Newcastle United in Seoul, the 32-year-old said leaving was his hardest decision.

“I’m leaving the team this summer. It was one of my toughest football decisions. I’m happy of my 10-year club loyalty, but I gave all every day “Son stated.

Tottenham’s captain also thanked the club and its fans for molding his career.

“I did my best on and off the pitch, and after winning the Europa League, I felt I had achieved everything I could here,” stated.

“This was the place where I grew so much as a player and as a person, so I have a very grateful heart.”

Son made 454 Spurs appearances in a decade, scoring 173 goals and giving several assists. He remains one of the Premier League’s most iconic Asian footballers after winning the Golden Boot in 2021-22.
