Tottenham Appoints Thomas Frank as Coach

After firing Ange Postecoglou despite winning the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur named Thomas Frank head coach on Thursday.

Frank joined Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur on a three-year contract after seven years at Brentford. Spurs reportedly considered Fulham manager Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola before hiring Frank, 51, as Ange Postecoglou’s successor.

Spurs won their first Europa League title in 17 years under Postecoglou, defeating Manchester United 1-0. Tottenham announced the hire in a statement.

“In Thomas we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game,” he said.

“He has a proven track record in player and squad development and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead,” the team said.

After winning the Europa League, Postecoglou’s Premier League season fizzled out, losing 22 games and finishing 17th, narrowly avoiding relegation. Frank is known for his attention to detail, so it’s no surprise that Brentford scored within 40 seconds in three league games last season. Our kickoff plan changes from game to game. Our philosophy is to start strong and be positive “Frank remarked at the time.

Frank led Brentford to promotion from the Championship in 2021 after beating Swansea City in the playoff final. Frank led Brentford to 13th, 9th, 16th, and 10th Premier League finishes.
