The official confirmation of Sundowns vs RB Leipzig friendly has seen Mamelodi Sundowns ready to measure up with the German team in an acclaimed international game in later this year.
South African champions declared that the RB Leipzig will visit South Africa in the first time the club visits. The tour is included in an international trip of Leipzig known as Re KAOFELA (All Together) which is supposed to increase the global reach of the club.
The statement issued on Monday evening says that the tour will be hosted on May 26 to May 30 in Johannesburg. It is the third international tour of Leipzig, the first being an excursion to the United States in 2024 and another trip to Brazil in 2025.
The best event in the tour would be the friendly between Sundowns and Leipzig on May 29. The match will be hosted in Lucas Moripe stadium in Pretoria.
It will be played at 8:00 PM local time, and it will be aired live on SABC3 which is the official Bundesliga media partner in the country.
In the case of Sundowns, the match will be six days after the last game of the season in the South African premier division. The club has been successful in the domestic league over years and remains one of the most successful club in Africa.
The friendly also gives Sundowns some international publicity that will see them featured in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
