On Tuesday, Sports Minister Pilar Alegria revealed that Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium will host the 2027 UEFA Champions League final.
The Metropolitano Stadium, where Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the 2019 Champions League final, will host one of Europe’s most important sporting events on June 5, 2027.
After Milan’s San Siro was eliminated due to renovations, UEFA reopened the 2027 final bidding process. Baku’s Olympic Stadium was another contender. After Spain’s application was approved, the Metropolitano Stadium was chosen as the host.
Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), expressed confidence in Spain’s ability to stage major European championships and encouraged other Spanish towns, such as Seville, to host future events.
Why not request a European final in Seville with the Spanish Federation’s support? Rafael said we’ll present this to UEFA because we have the suitable venue and city.
