Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the departure of Dario Vidosic after he chose to take up a new challenge in his two-year employ with the club, as a women’s head coach.
The former Brighton manager will leave shortly before the debut match of the Women’s Super League, following the team’s best few years in their history. The Australian finished in fifth place in the WSL, while also making the first appearance in the Women’s FA Cup final.
Joined Brighton from Melbourne City in 2024, the 39-year-old made his mark early on, making Brighton a more dominant force in England’s top tier. Brighton’s women’s and girls’ MD Zoe Johnson expressed her gratitude to Vidosic and the disappointment of his leaving.
“We are obviously disappointed in his decision but we are happy that he is going to take on a new challenge and good luck to him in the future,” Johnson continued.
It has been a tough one to make to leave but said his time in Brighton was a source of pride.
“It’s been a great time here at Albion, I’ve grown fond of it and I’m proud of what we do as a team.” The decision to leave has been a tough one but I feel it’s time for me and my family to start a fresh chapter.
The departure was a challenge Brighton had to face immediately before the new WSL season. Vidosic had been rumored to be interested in the job of head coach at NWSL club Angel City.
Brighton then rushed to hire former Real Sociedad Femenino head coach Arturo Ruiz to be Vidosic’s successor. Ruiz, who led Sociedad to third place in Spanish league’s Liga F last season, has signed a deal for four years until 2029.
