Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League champions Liverpool announced on Friday that defender Jeremie Frimpong has joined Liverpool on a long-term contract.
Liverpool activated a 35 million euros ($39.73 million) release clause for the 24-year-old Dutch international, whose Leverkusen contract expired in 2028, according to British media. Further media sources claim Frimpong will join the defending English champions on June 1.
The right-back, who can also play as a winger, helped Leverkusen win the German domestic double in 2023-24 with 14 goals and 12 assists.
After joining Liverpool, Frimpong promised to work hard and give supporters his best.
“It went smoothly. My decision was simple when Liverpool expressed interest.
Frimpong remarked, “Whatever you guys do, just get this done.”
‘Just finish.’
“Liverpool fans, I’ll give my all, my energy, my work-rate, and hopefully we can win, celebrate, and get everything together.
I’m just happy to be here. Thank you for accepting me. I won’t disappoint and will give you the energy you want.” Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley, who signed a four-year contract, will challenge Frimpong at right-back.
