Lamine Yamal On Path To Legend Status

Lamine Yamal legend status is becoming a serious talking point after Spain coach Luis de la Fuente hailed the teenager’s extraordinary talent following another spectacular performance in the Nations League. The 19-year-old was a sensational early opener in Spain’s 3-1 win against Czechia on Saturday, beating from the right and curling a left-footer into the top corner.

The Spaniard was almost stunned when the goal got to the touchline and the Spain coach put both hands on his head, as Yamal again delivered a moment of brilliance on the individual level.

“Every time we have Lamine we are taken aback — all of us,” De la Fuente added after the game.

The Spaniard has had an outstanding international layoff, netting four goals in three games against Italy, Belgium and Lithuania as Spain started their Nations League with three straight wins.

Even with Yamal’s own impressive, but still short of his potential, track record, De la Fuente says the teen is still a long way from his best. The coach said that there is still a lot to be expected from the young forward as he has a lot of talent and a lot of quality.”

De la Fuente also defended Yamal’s credentials at the world’s best players’ level including his quest for the Ballon d’Or. They would have a strong contender if they were compared to the best players in the world,” he said of the youngster.

The coach then predicted a great future for the forward, saying Yamal is “on the path to becoming a legend.” Despite his age, Yamal’s quick progression has seen him become one of the most important attacking talents in Spain, and he has continued to draw the attention of players from around the world with his ability to create and complete the opportunity.
