Mjallby Comeback Win produced one of the most dramatic results of the Swedish Allsvenskan season as the reigning champions overturned a three-goal deficit to defeat league leaders Sirius 4-3 on Saturday. The win put an end to Sirius’ winning streak in the league and made a splash from Mjallby who have struggled with a title defense campaign since their historic victory last season.
Sirius had to come into the match in a strong position as they are comfortably in the lead with 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals. The visitors were heading towards consolidating their lead over the title race with a 3-0 lead after reaching the 34th minute.
The first half was dominated by Sirius as Otsa Liimata netted twice to put them on top as they played aggressively attacking football. The leaders of the league were in a commanding position at the half-time mark and were surprised by the turnaround that occurred after the break.
After the break, it was 18-year-old substitute Olle Lindberg who had an immediate impact. The teenager was introduced to the game at the halftime break and found the net within two minutes of replacing Jonas Edholm for the first time and so started his first ever Allsvenskan career goal, making the home fans at Strandvallen believe.
This goal turned the game for the better. Mjallby kept on pressing and bringing their deficit closer and closer. They went on an unstoppable attack and scored four goals in the second half, finding a remarkable form of recovery and finding a memorable 4-3 win.
It was a big moment for Mjallby, who had not won at home in the league since a 2-0 win over Halmstad on April 27. The champions struggled for consistency across the 2026 season, but on the final day they played like they did in the previous season for their championship.
