Nicolas Jackson Joins Aston Villa

Nicolas Jackson Aston Villa is now a completed transfer, with the Premier League club confirming the Senegal striker has joined permanently from Chelsea as Unai Emery strengthens his attacking options. The Villa have agreed to pay £47.5 million to the 25-year-old, with another £17.5 million to be paid – presumably in performance-related bonuses or increases.

Jackson is at Villa Park with 37 Senegal caps and recently made his nation’s journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His recruitment is being targeted at bringing some new muscle into an Aston Villa attack that has suffered from a number of key departures.

Emery has already gotten in touch with the forward. At Villarreal, Jackson spent the 2022-23 LaLiga season playing under the Spanish manager, and had a breakout season with a tally of 12 goals in 26 competiton starts.

He went on to impress throughout the season, leading to a move to Chelsea in the summer of 2023. Jackson then went on to make 81 appearances and score 30 goals in all competition for the London outfit. The Senegal international completed his career at Stamford Bridge, assisting Chelsea to win the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup. But his displays also eluded mixed reactions from Chelsea fans.

Returning to Emery could be a chance for Jackson to find a form he had in LaLiga before heading to England, but that he failed to maintain.

The signing is a big investment for Villa on their frontline. The club will be hoping Jackson will be able to help them out with goals, physical presence and attacking versatility this term as they enter into another difficult campaign in the Premier League.

Jackson is 25 and already has a significant amount of high-level football experience in Spain and England as well as international football, and his former link with Emery may prove to be useful in his transition at Villa.
