Richarlison Future Uncertain at Tottenham

The Richarlison future at Tottenham Hotspur has become increasingly uncertain after the Brazil forward was left out of the club’s 25-man Premier League squad on Thursday.

The 29-year-old is believed to be considering departing before the transfer window closes and Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has hinted he could be interested in moving on, telling World Soccer that Richarlison “has repeatedly said that he wants to move on”.

It was not long ago that Richarlson himself gave fuel to the speculation early this week, making a strong assertion on his future. After going through hard times in recent years, the forward said that he wouldn’t allow anyone to make decisions for him so he had made up his mind. He also reiterated that pressure, threats and possible retaliation would not bother him as he already had worse experiences.

It was considered before England’s transfer window opened on Tuesday that Richarlison would be brought back from Everton, where he made his Premier League debut. But talks between the two teams did not yield a deal. But the Finlander can still be sold, as Turkish team Trabzonspor are interested ahead of the transfer deadline, which falls on Friday.

Richarlison was signed by Tottenham from Everton in 2022 and had 12 goals last season as Spurs just missed relegation. His future is now one of the key ones that the London club faces today.

Despite spending over £350m in the summer transfer window, Tottenham have been a poor form to start the season with two defeats to Brentford and Newcastle.

The squad deadline has come and gone in England and Richarlison’s departure could be the next big change in a rocky first season with De Zerbi at Tottenham. A shift overseas is still a possibility and the Brazilian’s next destination is clearly in sight.
